Open Fitness Reviewer's Comments
Open Fitness is a simple program designed by a certified personal trainer. It lacks the sophistication of higher ranked programs, particularly in the nutrition module. If you want to keep track of your workouts and your diet, and have the option of synchronized mobile software, Open Fitness is a program to consider.
Open Fitness is organized into seven journals:
- Weightlifting
- Cardio
- Diet
- Supplements
- Body Stats
- Competition
- Progress
Each journal allows for basic data entry. This is a simple program and setting up your personal profile will be quick. The focus is on your goals for both exercise and diet. With a click, you can see a chart of your progress.
Exercise
Like the top two programs, Open Fitness divides exercise into weight training (strength) and cardio (aerobic). There are a limited list of activities to choose from with areas for tracking basic details including length of time, heart rate and notes. You can add custom activities, but you won’t be able to record activity-specific details like route, surface and weather, which can be important to the athlete in training.Easily share a workout routine with the built-in email function that allows you to attach individual workouts.
Nutrition
Open Fitness tracks the basic diet parameters: carbohydrates, fat, protein and calories. You won’t find detailed nutrient tracking, meals organized by type, or the ability to track medical and wellness conditions related to fitness.
Bonus Features
- Enter a target dimension for most every body part and your deadline for completion in your Body Stats Journal.
- Record event dates in your Competition Journal and Fitness Assistant will generate reminders in the message box when you open the program.
- Learn possible reasons for any significant changes in your progress—a valuable diagnostic tool—in your Progress Journal.
- Open Fitness Mobile Edition is available which can be synchronized to your computer.
